FIELD NOTES
The specimen presents as a poppy and does a very good job of it. This appears intentional.
Petal mass is oversized, saturated, and blue in a way that suggests commitment rather than accident. This is not a colour it drifted into. This is a choice. I respect it. I don’t trust it.
Vertical white bars were present prior to observation. They suggest order, tracking, and the promise that if you just line things up correctly, meaning will appear. This has not been the case so far.
The specimen grew anyway.
Petals overlap the bars casually, like they were never informed this was meant to be a system. Paint drips cross the bars in multiple locations, each one behaving like a clerical error no one wants to take responsibility for.
If this is a code, it does not want to be decoded.
If it can be scanned, it would absolutely refuse to scan properly.
Lower foliage exhibits secondary growth patterns that appear adaptive rather than resistant. This is worse than defiance. This is cooperation with indifference.
At no point did the specimen attempt to disguise itself as a product.
This should simplify things. It has not.

The designation Barcode Poppy was selected because it annoyed the right people.
Repeated attempts to determine what is being measured were unsuccessful. It is increasingly clear that nothing is. The bars remain straight. The specimen remains uninterested. This feels deliberate. Further clarification is unnecessary. Further scanning will only embarrass us.
