Incident Report 117: Violent Orchid (Fine Art Print)
INCIDENT REPORT 117: VIOLENT ORCHID
FIELD NOTES
The specimen was initially unremarkable.
I am writing this sentence with hindsight and resentment.
Petals opened with manners. Colour saturation increased agreeably. At this stage, it was still pretending to be a flower, which I appreciated at the time and will not make that mistake again.
It waited.
The upper left petal did not wilt or weaken. It broke. Not accidentally. Not artistically. It fractured like something that had been holding a grudge and finally remembered why.
The interior of the break glowed. Loudly. This glow did not aid comprehension, documentation, or my sense of control. It did, however, have confidence.
I stopped writing for a moment.
This pause accomplished nothing.
Containment lines were installed, visible, and neon green - a colour chosen specifically to convey authority. At this point, the specimen could no longer be described as decorative. It was doing something else entirely. If you’re tempted to call that “expressive,” please don’t. That’s how conversations start that end badly.
I considered ending the observation.
I considered many things.
I stayed.
Containment Outcome: Failed (with style)
Action Taken: Observation suspended before dignity suffered further losses
Recommendation: Do not engage with this specimen expecting calm, beauty, or a normal fucking outcome.
ADDENDUM
The designation Violent Orchid was applied because it shortened meetings. This report was edited for professionalism. Professionalism made things worse. The specimen has not moved since documentation concluded. This does not feel like compliance. It feels like being watched quietly. Further clarification is unavailable. Further containment is aspirational. No further incidents recorded. (This sentence has a history of lying.)
